What Is Black Seed Oil?

Black seed oil is a natural product that is derived from the black cumin plant. The scientific name for the plant is Nigella sativa. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine as a treatment for various ailments.

The main active ingredient in black seed oil is thymoquinone. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. This plant oil  is also a good source of essential fatty acids, including linoleic acid and oleic acid.

What Are the Benefits of Black Seed Oil?

Benefits of Black Seed OilAre you thinking of black seed oil for weigiht loss? It might help! Black seed oil is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that can help reduce weight gain. This is due to its ability to reduce inflammation and improve metabolism. A 2017 study found that black seed oil was able to decrease weight gain and fat accumulation in rats that were on a high-fat diet.

A study in the journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism found that black seed oil “causes gradual partial regeneration of pancreatic beta-cells, increases the lowered serum insulin concentrations, and decreases the elevated serum glucose.”

Proper function of the pancreas is essential to maintaining normal blood sugar levels. When blood sugar spikes, it triggers insulin to be released. Over time, high insulin levels can lead to weight gain and type 2 diabetes. By keeping blood sugar levels stable, black seed oil may help prevent these conditions.

In addition to helping with weight loss, black seed oil has also been shown to improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes. A small study from 2010 found that taking black seed oil capsules improved fasting blood sugar and hemoglobin A1c levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

What Is the Recommended Dosage of Black Seed Oil?

The recommended dosage of black seed oil depends on the reason you are taking it. For weight loss, a dose of 500 mg twice daily is typically recommended. For diabetes, a dose of 1-2 grams daily is recommended. And for inflammatory conditions like Crohn’s disease, a dose of 500 mg three times daily is typically recommended.

It is important to start with a lower dose and increase gradually as tolerated. Black seed oil can interact with certain medications, so it is important to check with your doctor before starting to take it.

What Are the Possible Side Effects of Black Seed Oil?

This  healing oil is generally considered safe for most people. The most common side effect is digestive upset, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you experience any adverse effects, stop taking black seed oil and speak with your doctor.

Just be sure to purchase the supplement from a reputable source such as Activation Products Perfect Press Black Cumin Seed Oil which is vegan, organic, and gluten free. Activation uses a cold press method that ensures nutrients are not lost during the extraction process.

Bottom Line

There is scientific evidence to suggest that black seed oil may help with weight loss. One study found that people who took black seed oil and did aerobic exercise showed better weight-loss results than people who did not take the supplement.

Black seed oil is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that can help promote weight loss. It is also a good source of essential fatty acids and has been shown to improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes. This oil is generally safe for most people, but it can cause digestive upset in some. If you experience any adverse effects, stop taking black seed oil and speak with your doctor.

How intriguing as I have never heard of Black Seed Oil nor the black cumin plant that it comes from. But I find its benefits to help with Losing weight, Battling Diabetes, and just as an overall Anti-inflammatory very interesting indeed. So I get the dosing and basically how it is either 500mg or a full gram spread out per day.
